Festa Popolare is a group of young italo-canadese musicians performing the traditional music of Italy. The project is led by multi-instrumentalist Roberto DiPlacido, who has spent the past several years travelling back and forth between Canada and Italy, researching, studying with masters, and acquiring dozens of instruments with the goal of preserving and sharing the rich musical traditions of Italy with the communities of his native Toronto and beyond. Played with authentic style and instrumentation and sung in many of the country’s ancient, endangered languages, Festa Popolare leads audiences through the beautiful world of Italian folk music, including genres seldom performed outside of Italy.
